As I read and listen to the election 2010 results, something does not add up. After all when I cruised through FB yesterday the clicker here alone showed thousands of my FB Family declaring with a big red white and blue badge that they had indeed voted. Although some had never left the confines of their homes. Far too often our mouths get us in trouble and I bet this was again the case.
We fail to realize when we speak people listen, so one person sitting at home and thinking well it is a cold, dreary, rainy day here in Dallas (and so many other parts of the country) and I see 50,000 folks have already voted so my vote wont matter. WRONG!!!!!! Because of the computer shows 50,000 that means about 20,000 just pressed it because it was on their screen.
Lip service, we pay it more than we pay our bills. We want to be seen and heard and admired and thought of as clever, witty and charming. We want to show all of our goods and tell all of our business, and yet most of it is a lie formed out of our mouths simply for attention.
Lip service, we profess knowledge of everything that is popular and read up on and actually know NOTHING. Lip service, we pay it out even when it is not asked for and arrogantly expect that we will lead by non-example, yes by simply speaking we want to be followed. We say we do, when in deed we don't.
The sad part is with the invention of the internet, there is no reason to be uninformed, yet you are a star farmer on Farmville or the best damned Bejeweled player on the net, you are a Mafia Boss on Mafia wars but you have no idea who heads up the Department of Homeland Security (Janet Napolitano). Too often we forgo what is important for what is fashionable or in vogue at the moment.
We talk a great game and seek to encourage others while sitting at a computer devoid of reality. Government is simple, the folks casting the most votes will be heard most. We become complaisant with small victories. We become believers that we have overcome. We will allow one person to carry a half lit, dim torch and declare we are ahead.
Stop paying lip service, live up to the character of your convictions. Stop saying it if you wont do it because people believe you and then they foolishly base their actions on what you promised to do.
Yesterday was another prime example of people hearing and believing without seeing. Believing without proof is called FAITH and if we showed God half as much faith as we show FOX news, with their lying scheming numbers, we would all be heaven bound. If we understood projections by news channels are normally saturated with bull $#$$ polls and skewed numbers and are mostly their beliefs of what will happen, we would know and recognize how important your individual action of voting is to the entire system. We need to multiply our action by the other thousands who hear and believe the same falsities. For the record, I do not see it as a black white issue either, I see it as an economic issue. To bad most poor people fail to accept and realize they are poor. Probably because it is such a downer. I will however admit we (AA) are in lines in droves for a good concert or a great party and we will make sure we support a pro team (all of you have seen WHO-DAT nation Rise up) but we neglect to stand up and vote and play a part in the shaping of our children's future.
Politics are definitely politics and we are the purveyors of parliament, but only when we step up and speak up. Yesterday's gone and never to return but today is here and tomorrow is coming. We need to hold those now newly elected official to accountability. Whether you voted for them or not, they now work for you. Do not allow the people on your payroll to simply pay you lip service. Demand your policy be heard, demand your agenda be heard, you have access to your employee, start keeping a report card on them and do not grade on a curve like you always wanted the Math and Physics professor to do for you.
DEMAND! DEMAND! DEMAND!
Stop allowing people to give lip service to us as a steady diet. If not we are going to get even skinnier on jobs and healthcare and the national agendas. It starts locally with you speaking up and making sure you are heard.
Change does not have to stop because the players are changing. Make them remove the political mask and get to work.
What did you really do yesterday? Did you just pay lip service? What will you do today and tomorrow? Will you take the challenge and get involved or will you continue to just pay lip service.... Like my Mama always said action speaks louder than words. When you are simply paying lip service remember someone who believes you is listening and you may set off a deadly chain reaction so think before you speak.
