I see a lot of out cry about Troy Davis, but my question to you is where were you yesterdays past? Did you vote in the election for governor? City Council, District Attorney, Attorney General, State Judges? Do you encourage your children to go to law school and government? Do you often say things like "I don't care about politics, that doesn't effect my life"?
I have some news for all of you, Troy Davis ain't the only person facing the death penalty in this country. He isn't the only person that says he is innocent and got a questionable trial. He will not be the last especially if everyone collectively doesn't start changing their priorities.
We have completely lost our way. We focus on things that really do not matter in the over all life. Education is at the bottom of the list when it comes things we want our kids to do. We encourage them to be ball players, actors, rappers, singers, and models before they can even walk. Who is the more respected individual in the community, the person that played in the NBA 3 seasons or the county judge that has served 20 years?
So instead of talking about what celeb has a beef with what celeb, what reality TV show star did what, and how you ain't perfect and ain't trying to be and God understands, get off your collective backsides and work and making things better.
Unfortunately I know most of you will make some angry posts on Facebook or twitter, buy a T-shirt about your black pride, and blame slavery and Willie Lynch letters for why you can't even try to do better. It is an absolute shame that we are worse off today as a people than the actually ex-slaves were. Sure we have a Black President but we also have Troy Davis. To about half of the country they look exactly the same.
