Barring something unforeseen happening like a player getting a season ending injury, the Golden State Warriors will probably win the NBA championship this season. But this fact is not stopping people from getting excited about the NBA season.
The NBA is now the #2 sport in the world. There are probably more fans of the NBA in China alone than the United States. Everyone in the world plays basketball now. They have the skill and the talent to compete with any player from the United States.
Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the rising stars of the NBA and none of them are from America. After KD and King James leave the league it is a safe bet to say that one of these players will be the next torch bearer.
Speaking of Lebron James, with his move to the Lakers everyone in the East is not vying for a chance to lose to the Warriors in the Finals. Boston is everyone’s easy pick but I can see Toronto or the 76ers easily winning the conference.
There are so many storylines this season every game will be must see TV. Can the Lakers rise back to the top of the league? Are the Rockets better this season when they were one win away from the Finals? Were the Jazz a fluke last season or will they be serious contenders? My favorite question is will Paul George regret staying in OKC instead of joining Lebron and the Lakers.
Here are my before the season starts predictions:
Player Of The Year: LeBron James
If he plays like he did last year and the Lakers are 4th seed or higher this will be easy
Coach Of The Year: Luke Walton
If the Lakers are a 4th seed and Walton keeps this Lakers team together he deserves coach of the year
Defensive Player Of The Year: Anthony Davis
He could easily be player of the year if he has another monster year. Defensive player of the year might be a nice consolation prize.
Rookie of the year: Luka Doncic
Guy is basically a professional league veteran who has been playing against top talent in the world. If he plays like he did in the preseason then the award should be his.
Sixth Man of the year: Eric Gordon
A lot of people said he should have won last year but Lou Williams have an incredible year. The Rockets will on beat the Warriors if Gordon has another monster year.
Most Improved Player: Brandon Ingram
Since the Lakers did not sign a big free agent they are going to have to find an allstar on their roster. Ingram was a beast in the preseason. Playing with James and Rondo will only help him get better since he does have to be the best player on the team.
2019 NBA Champions: Golden State Warriors
Is there even a doubt in anyone’s mind? Lakers, Celtics, 76ers, and Rockets don’t have a chance beating a team with 5 current NBA all-stars. I doubt any team in history could beat them.
