Living a Lie
Often time’s women will say that they are firm believers in their faith, but yet their actions prove otherwise. When asked in public if they are abstinent, they all agree that their faith does not permit them to be ‘worldly.’ However, when you look at the same group of women, most of them may have one or two children that were born out of wedlock. Their lifestyle shows that they are not true women of their word nor do they live up to the title of being a Christian. Why is there a disconnect between what they truly deem as their faith and how they live as single women.
Being a Christian means that you are fully aware and accountable for your actions. Today we tend to follow our emotions and self gratification rather than what the Bible teaches. In a recent article entitled ‘New World, New Ways, New gods,’ they state that church members are avoiding the concept of being a Christian and not fully living the life that requires them to make changes. “Most Americans, it seems, are willing to change as long as the pathway promises benefit and enjoyment, and generally avoids pain, conflict and sacrifice.” Living the life of Christ means that sacrifices have to be made in our daily walk. One such sacrifice is sex but there are few who fall short because of social and personal desires rather than wanting to make a full commitment. Our purpose is not geared towards what was promised but rather for what feels good right now. The article further states that, “those who choose to remain Christian [by personal definition and not through scripture] are also reformulating the popular notion of what ‘Christian’ and the Christian life mean.” Part of the problem is that believers are creating their faith around their life rather than creating their life around what is written in the Bible. We have become a lazy society in which we desire fast service and wish for everything to be done our way or no way.
True the journey of a firm Christian has hardships and to fully walk as Christ we should understand that everything he encountered, we will as well. The walk of a Christian does not state that we are protected from lies in which we correct. In fact, walking outside of the realm of a Christian makes us an antichrist; living the life as a lie and that singles are not abiding by a full life of perfection but rather a life that satisfies the physical and emotional. This leads to another hearting fact amongst single women in church who use the title of Christian.
There are many pew fillers who have hidden secrets about their present life. Even though they shout and pray the loudest, they have a secret. Abortions are high amongst believers and they feel that if no one knows that they went to the clinic, then they will be safe in the arms of Christ. The idea of an abortion is still killing a life and that cross will be carried forever. Repenting for it is hard, but there are those who will never admit that they killed a life. Nor will they admit that they slept with someone out of wedlock. An abortion is not the vision of perfection. Here are the facts that many desire not to speak of.

So the question remains about being Single in today’s social climate. By stating that you are a Christian does not necessarily mean you are living the life of one. Reshaping scripture in order to fit into selfish desires is a sin. The entire idea of be a Christian is not about how society views you and your life, but how Christ and the Most High views your life(style). The word alone does not justify who you are, but what you do in your life means more than a title. Being single is not an easy task, but can be done. Pleasing your body is not the purpose in the life of a Christian. It’s about pleasing the Creator. Until single women as church members can understand and live a Christ filled life, then the title should not have to be announced; the actions will.
