When you think about your life and when you are honest with yourself, what things are first on your list of importance? Many will say it is God but is that what your life reflects?
Take a moment to think about how you identify yourself to others. Most people identify their occupation, where they are from, their marital status, hobbies, but God is often not part of the picture.
Should we as followers of Jesus not be speaking about our Heavenly Father in everything we do.
Instead of focusing on being a servant of God, people are focused on being Black, White, Gay, Rich, Poor, Catholic, Protestant, Married, Single and pretty much anything but being a servant of God.
It seems for many our earthly struggles are more important than doing our Father's heavenly work. In fact we will forsake our Father's work in order to fit in to earthly tasks, clearly proving to the world what is most important to us.
This is a point that seems to escape us in our everyday lives. We may admit it when we say we are not perfect, but there doesn't seem to be any effort to actually stay on the right path.
Jesus clearly taught that we should always be about the Lord's work in everything that we do. It should be a part of us. There is nothing in our lives that we should place above God.
There is nothing that we should place above God. If you find yourself thinking that you need anything in life more than you need God then you need to re-evaluate somethings and place them in the proper place.
As soon as you have something that you love more than God, then you lose your faith and we know where that path leads.
Matthew 22: 37-38
Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.
