Over the centuries people have struggled with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus teachings are contrary to how the world actually is. So if you are a follower of Jesus you have to ask yourself how do you follow his teachings when they directly conflict how the world operates?
Of course this is nothing new and is what Jesus faced during his lifetime. The things that he taught went against what the majority of people believed at the time. Even many of the people that followed him for a long period of time over his ministry left his side because he eventually said something that they could not agree.
I believe that this is very important for followers of Christ to understand. Jesus message was always do the work of God above all other things. Even when this conflicts with our personal wants or society, we need to follow God.
Take a moment and ask yourself, is this what I do everyday? Is this what I see others who say they follow God do everyday? Are we putting God before everything else or are we just following personal desires?
Some may ask, well how do I know what God wants? To this I say that is the first thing you need to discover and it is the step that most never take. Instead of seeking God in the things that they do, they instead decide what they want and then try to have God give it to them. When was the last time you heard a Christian say, I did not want to do that because it was going to cause me trouble but God said that was what I needed to do so I follow God instead of my wants?
For you see the message of Jesus has been twisted, as it always has, to fit the agenda of those who wish to use it for personal gain. This is why Jesus told us that not everyone that calls on him will be heard because they do not do the work of God.
It is nothing new for people to sin in the name of God and say that it is ok. It seems that so many take sinning to be a joke. They do not consider the sacrifice of Jesus that allows them to have a chance at salvation. To them it is just a free gift somebody gave them that didn't cost them anything.
How else could we live in a world where people proudly state the sinful acts they commit and continue to commit without any remorse? How else could people say that they are more concerned about the sinful world than they are about doing the Father's work?
Jesus message to those that follow him is to go out into the world and spread the Word of God to all that will hear. Sometimes you will be greeted with a smile but most of the time you will be greeted with a frown. This is all part of serving God and not taking the sacrifice of Jesus for granted. Jesus died so that you might have a chance at eternal life. It, however, is a chance that you have to want and receive.
