When you are a Christian you have a special love for people. It doesn’t matter if they are good or bad we want to see them do better. Unfortunately in the world people don’t always have a desire to do better. Many people are perfectly happy with the way their life is and will not do anything to change. It is at this point that we need to learn to let those people go.
Now I am sure this is not what you have been taught by the church but it is what is stated in the Bible. It is hard to let people go especially the one’s that we love because they have a special place in our hearts. We often believe that if we just keep praying for them then one day they will change and join us in the glory of God.
I think that it is hard for us to accept that not everyone will be saved. It is hard for us to accept that one day God will judge us and find some people lacking. It does not seem to be merciful not to save someone even when they don’t deserve it.
Maybe it is our American culture that on the surface, says that all views are valid. It is just as valid to say God is everything as it is to say that God is irrelevant in America. It is perfectly fine to say that Jesus is no more a moral authority than Buddha.
As Christians we have to learn to let people go that conflict with our beliefs. You don’t need to have close friends that constantly question your faith and tell you that it is invalid. You don’t need people in your life that tell you that belief in a social cause is more important than doing the Lord’s work.
We must learn that the ways of God are not the ways of man no matter how badly we wish them to be. Nothing happens that is not allowed by God. It all serves His purpose for which we can not comprehend. Sometimes that purpose is to leave people alone and let them be.
When we let people be we are not abandoning them. We are allowing them the freedom to seek out God on their own terms. If it is their fate then they will come back to God and they will remember all that you did to help them although you may never know this.
We have to learn that Jesus is the Savior and not us. We don’t actually save people, Jesus does. We are simply messengers sharing his teachings and the power that is God. There is nothing that we are going to do that is going to sanctify a sinful world. Our job is to reach the souls of people and they will in turn find God and that impact will change their lives.
Remember to always speak your peace and share the Word of God, but also learn to recognize when people do not wish to hear your message. Do not be afraid to move on and let those people be. If God wants you to talk to them then he will let you know. Until then keep them in your prayers and focus on those that do want your help because there are many that would love for you to share the message of God with them.
Focus on serving them and not chasing those that scorn your words. It will bring you a higher level of peace and closer to God.
