I know this may come as a shock to many Americans but God does not care one bit about your political views. I know we have “In God We Trust” on our money. The President of the United States ends all speeches with God bless America. The Pledge of Allegiance had that line one nation under God added to it in the 50’s. God doesn’t care about any of this at all.
I don’t know why Americans have this burning need to insert God into their worldly politics when God states that He is above such concerns. No one comes to power in the world unless it is the will of the Lord. He will and has used the most evil rulers in history to do His will and He will continue to do so.
It is really easy right now to say one political party is more evil than the other. It is clear to anyone that is truly in the Spirit that one group’s behavior mirrors the Pharisees that wanted to destroy Jesus. While this is true it is also true that the other group embraces rejecting God every chance they get so they don’t offend those that don’t believe in God, Jesus, or the Bible.
As Christians, which by the way means followers of Jesus Christ, we have to decide do we live our lives in service of God or are we living our lives in service of the world. Following the will of God will always bring you into conflict with serving God.
The problem in America is that we have allowed those not doing God’s work to be the only one’s that invoke the name of Jesus. This has allowed these individuals to attract people of weak faith because all they do is flock to the people mentioning the name of God and ignoring the people refuse to speak the name of Jesus.
We have become ashamed to speak the Word of God because it will upset most Americans. We don’t want to tell people things that they do are wrong and a sin against God when the majority Americans engage in those behaviors.
If we are being honest. We have allowed this same mentality to become a part of the church in the name of adapting to the times which in turn has made Christians feel like they need to get involved in politics. We mistakenly use politics as a means to do what we believe to be God’s work.
This is understandable since it was the church that was the driving force of social change in America but that was at a time when everything was not based on the politics of opposition. Christianity used to cross across political parties as they tried to do the work of God to help people but those times are long gone.
Christianity is now the badge many use to do evil deeds and rejecting God is the badge many wear to do worldly good deeds. God soundly rejects both philosophies. God is about doing God’s work which was here before America and it will be here after America.
It really is amazing in a country that was founded on running away from a church authority, taking land away native people, and forming a government devoid of any mention of God that we have people trying to invoke God into America politics today.
We do more of God’s work as true followers of Christ focusing on following His will instead of trying to do good according to the world. As it stands now most Christians in America are simply lost sheep being lead astray by people that have no interest in serving God. At some point we as followers of Christ must reject this behavior and focus only on doing the Lord’s work. This is our calling and our true purpose given to us by Jesus Christ.
