Things do change over night. But not in the time frame we think. Just like in the garden, when Eve went with her own reasoning and did not follow the direction of the Creator, she did not die in that moment. But in that moment, that one action based on her own reasoning and desire, she allowed death, suffering, and sin to enter her world. She did not litterally die that day. But death came into her future and her future generations. She was kicked out of paradise and now had to work for everything she needed. And anything she wanted. No longer could she go any bush and eat. Now she had to wait for the seeds to be planted, tended to, and harvested before she could eat. Her first son was killed by his brother. Then the brother was banished. She no longer had either sons.
Eventually mercy was given to her to have another son. But what did she go through while waiting? How many times did she think about how her new baby could have had brothers to play with but does not?. How any times did she fix a big meal then remembered it was only her and Adam now eating? How many years went by that she had day in and day out to think about what she lost?Even when she orginally did wrong she was given the chance to repent. But she didn't. She blamed someone else for the action and decision she made. Not only did she suffered for it, but so did her children and future generations.
How long must we cause our own suffering? How long must we watch the ones we love suffer for our wrongs? How long will we play the blame game? How long will be beg for mercy from the effects our decisions?
The only way out sin or bad choices is through humbling truth. The moment you decide to stop blaming others, and change your actions is the moment when you life will change. But just like in your bad decisions, the effects of the change will not happen over night. It takes consistency. Consistency got you in it and Consistency will get you out. We all have had moments in our lives where we went on our own reasoning instead of doing what was told to us to do. Just like Eve, in that moment the fruit of our actions tasted good. And just like Eve we did not quickly repent because we did not at that moment drop dead. And just like Eve when we was given a chance get it right, or a way out, we consistently made another bad decision based of our own reasoning. It was not until later on in life that we felt the results of the decisions we made so long ago.
The laws in the scriptures was written for our protection. And to protect our future and our future blood lines. It is not meant for us to understand in that moment, or some times ever. We are to simply obey. How many times have you not obeyed because you did not understand and suffered for it? How many times have you begged for mercy?
If you/we would have simply obeyed in the first place we would not need mercy. But its not to late. Yes, for the time being you will still have to consistently pay for the results of your past decisions. Just like that one decision so long ago affected you today. One decision now will affect your future. Just like you didn't see how you will be affected then, you wont see it now and maybe not even a month from now. But in the future you will see it, just like you are seeing suffering now, you will see peace. Make that one decision now, and just like you was consistent in doing wrong , be consistent in doing right. Humble yourself to the truth and let it work on you, in you, then though you.
