I have seen quite a few articles written this past week about how religion makes people stupid. Just using that phrase alone sets the negative tone of the conversation. It is Easter week so nothing is really surprising about all of this. Attacking Jesus has become a sport for the 2 - 6% of the US population that are self proclaimed Atheists. What they might find surprising is the number of religious people that agree with a lot of the things that they say. That's right, both Atheists and ultra conservative Christians use the very same arguments when they attack the religious beliefs of others.

Add Comment by Grey Grymm To some this may sound like a strange question, but to those that not only study their religion but the religion of others it is a perfectly reason question to ask. In the United States people just use the term, God, to refer to their religion I am sure never thinking for a second that others are referring to something else. by Chris Green
I personally believe in my heart as a devoted man of GOD, that Tim Tebow's recent promotion to become the new starting Quarterback for the Denver Broncos was a direct result of his faithfulness to remain positive and committed to GOD'S principles. by Myckelle P. Williams “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” --Job 1:21 I surely felt like Job this week as I watched our one and only car get taken by the Repo man. He even tried to start an altercation, but I just calmly handed him the keys, called my children to help clean out the car, gathered my personal belongings in a garbage bag, and walked away with my head high, without even looking back. Humiliating in front of the neighbors, yes...but after my mother’s fire this week, my aunt in by-pass surgery and me not being able to afford to go be by her side, and not being able to afford my daughters cap and gown, or college down payment... this seemed to pale in comparison. So, to celebrate, I went to a restaurant by myself, sat at a bar and ordered a glass of wine. I don’t even drink. I just wanted to stop feeling the anger and sadness that I knew was coming on. Even my prayers were not easing the hurt this time....they just felt bitter. by Grey Grymm Where does all the confusion within Christianity come from? Why does everyone think that THEIR way is the RIGHT and ONLY way? I always see a lot of people expressing their views, but I don't see a lot of people willing to LISTEN to what anyone else has to say. My last show is probably the one that has generated the most upset email from people that are all suppose to be Christians, yet they believe that various people were flat out "wrong". I have gotten this from all sides. Keep in mind I did not express any of my views on the show. So all the people (those that are still here that is) that want to tell me how I am absolutely WRONG, please show me how you are absolutely RIGHT. For those that missed it, you can listen to the show here: What is the meaning of Christianity by Dwayne Reed
THE Catholic Review said that those who complained felt “that we have no right, in this ecumenical (interfaith) age, to publish anything that anybody might consider critical of any religious group.” Do you agree? Many persons would answer “Yes,” saying that ‘there is good in all religions’ or that ‘all religions lead to God.’ Yes, many individuals feel that this is the time for a liberal, ecumenical (interfaith) outlook. by Grey Grymm I have noticed something for awhile. There seems to be a lot of people that believe that God is all about making them feel good in whatever they do. That our God is all about letting us do anything and everything we want, and it is all ok. Many are starting to behave as if they don't have to do anything in order to reach Heaven. Now everytime I hear this I always ask the question, has this person actually read the Bible? Do they actually know what their faith is all about? Do they understand the fundamental principles of their stated religion? |
