Is there an effort to keep Black families down or is it merely self destruction? Nearly half of the prison population in the United States are black males. Of that number nearly 65% are between the ages of 20 - 39. The high school drop out rate for black males is around 50%. Of that number around 70% are unemployed. The number of black children born out of wedlock to single mothers is around 75%. The numbers have been on a constant rise from 1979 to present day.
